Since 2022 Kyle and I started venturing in the Fall to North Fork, ID. What started as a tradition with the two of us has become a family tradition for the 6 of us. It’s something my kids look forward to. The biggest angst for my children is the fact there is no cell phone service. You don’t realize how much you use your phone until you are not connected at all.
We have actually been crazy busy since my daughter Madison was born and this was our first year since she was a babe in my belly taking her out of the womb. She is now 3.
I have never been a great fisherman and I spend most of my time reading books, drawing and journaling. There is nothing like listening to the stream and reflecting on what is currently going on in your life and what you look forward to do and set goals. I have already set goals now it is being consistent and carrying it out. I brought a book that was gifted to me a year ago to read. I was excited to read CharlotteVarble’s book. She is an intuitive healer who uses her craft in massage therapy. I have done a session with her and I can’t tell you how incredibly healing it was for me. I can’t wait for the next time I get to visit. It’s been great so far and feel comfortable recommending it those who are enjoying alternative healing. I used modern medicine for years before turning to natural methods of healing: oils, coaching, massage, meditation, and so much more. I wish I had the time to read so more, but I had my daughter and there were so many amazing rocks that we need to draw on. My daughter is a lot like me in the sense we are both very creative in nature, stubborn and have a hard time when we don’t get our way. Okay okay maybe that is not completely true! I only pout now….a little.
This was the first year Kyle didn’t get up at 4AM and head out to the river. We all slept in and we cooked and ate breakfast before going out on the water. We kept it really low key and I only was concerned twice while there. As there was no cell service and my children and husband is used to me being able to get a hold of them whenever one went to the top of the mountain on a hike and made me a bit nervous as it was going dark. It’s the worst feeling not knowing if one of your kids are safe. The other time was my husband. Oh boy. He went on a trip that he didn’t think was going to take him that long that did. He hurt his leg in a fire so he couldn’t do a lot of walking so as much as I was frustrated, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t give me a kiss and make better.
I think my highlight for the trip was the restaurant we stopped at on the way back from North Fork, Id called Junk Yard Bistro in Salmon, ID.
I personally got the nocci which was excellent with fresh mozzarella and pita bread. My husband got the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese while my boys got the special which was buffalo or regular Mac and Cheese on their burgers. I don’t think there was one of use that was not 1000% satisfied with our meal. We went on our ride home full and ready to get ready for the rest of the week. It was a lot of fun and I am glad we went after taking a few years off. Such a fun time.
Austin and Cache
It’s not often I get full smiles in pictures so I am so grateful that I got this one.
Madison
Madison was really in the art zone trying to draw the mountains edge that was next to us. It was fun to sit and watch her.
